Exercise 2: Type Tracing

It was so interesting to trace the fonts, as the words are no longer letters but shapes. I enjoyed how fonts can be so angular and geometric and this really highlighted all the tiny uniqueness tied to typography.

Exercise 3: Typographic Voice

I decided on three words, tradition, organic, and purity. For tradition, I wanted a serif font that reinforces the idea of conventional type. I decided on Californian FB, which is a thinner font but still embodied the idea of tradition. For organic, I wanted a sans font that is more geometric. When I think of organic, I think of less stiff and more rounded type, especially with less sharpness. I decided on Souce Sans Variable for the type. For purity, I wanted a serif font that highlighted the idea of virtue. When I think of virtue, I wanted a type that is more traditional, thus picking a serif font.
